Ralph Rugoff Lecture at Design Hub
Ralph Rugoff, Director of the Haywood Gallery in London will be speaking at Design Hub this November 21st.
RALPH RUGOFF has been Director of the Hayward Gallery in London since 2006. Since his appointment he has organized numerous exhibitions including The Painting of Modern Life (2007), Psycho Buildings (2008), Jeremy Deller: Joy in People (2012), and Invisible (2012). From 2000-06, he was Director of the CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art in San Francisco, where he organized exhibitions such as Monuments to the USA (2005) and Baja to Vancouver: The West Coast in Contemporary Art (2004). Prior to that he organized a number of exhibitions as an independent curator including Scene of the Crime (Hammer Gallery, 1997), and The Greenhouse Effect (Serpentine Gallery, 2000).
As a writer Rugoff has written for numerous art journals and magazines, and contributed essays to books on artists such as Mike Kelley, David Hammons, Roni Horn, Luc Tuymans, and Paul McCarthy. He is also the editor of a forthcoming book on Raymond Pettibon (Rizzoli, 2013). In 2006, he was awarded the Ordway Prize for achievements in curating and criticism. He served as an adviser to the Turin Trienniale in 2005 and the Sydney Biennial in 2002.
