Keynote lecture: Ben Evans, Director of London Design Festival
Ben Evans keynote lecture presented by Naomi Milgrom Foundation and supported by the Australian Council, followed by a panel discussion with special guest Amanda Levete.
Ben Evans provides an insight into the curation and creative direction of London's Design Festival though his role as Director of the Festival, which he co-founded with Sir John Sorrell in 2003. The Festival celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world and has inspired similar events in many international cities. It is an annual event involving 250 partner organisations and has an audience in excess of 300,000. As well as managing the Festival, Ben initiates commissions and curates projects for the event including an annual residency in the V&A Museum. He also directs the Global Design Forum, a major Festival event that visits other international cities during the year.
Ben is joined in a panel discussion with renowned architect Amanda Levete and invited guests to discuss the topic: "How can the festival model take a leading role in procuring innovation and experimentation in design through festival programs?"
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
