Emerging Design Curators' Workshop: Invitation to Apply

Deadline for Submission: Monday 16 September CoB

Would you like to conceptualise and produce a design exhibition within a site-specific location at RMIT Design Hub? Do you have an interest in curatorial practice as a stream of design research? 

Join the Design Hub team for an intensive workshop and an opportunity to develop your curatorial skills. The outcome of the workshop will provide one team the opportunity to bring their concept into reality within the compelling spaces of Design Hub in 2014.

Special guest reviewer – International design critic Alice Rawsthorn.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
20 x free places are open for the workshop. Positions for the workshop will be offered upon quality of application submission. Please note that participants will be required to work in small groups during the workshop process.

APPLY:
To apply for a position please submit:
- Short statement describing a curatorial
idea or position that you would like to develop.
- CV (2 pages maximum)
- Reference images of past projects (4 – 6 images in total)

Note: applications can be made individually or as a group of 2 – 4 people.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
PART 1: 3 OCTOBER
10am – 11am : Introduction, Tour of Design Hub, Walter Van Beirendonck: Dream The World Awake
11am – 12pm : Exhibition brief presented by Fleur Watson, Curator Design Hub; Nella Themelios, Creative Producer Design Hub
12pm –1pm : Informal Lunch
1pm – 3pm : Participants work in small groups to develop their curatorial concepts
3pm – 4pm: Group tutorials with Curator and Creative Producer and guests

PART 2 : 24 OCTOBER
10am – 1pm: Curatorial concept presentations by workshop groups to panel for feedback
1pm – 2pm: Informal lunch and closing comments

Panel: Special guest critic Alice Rawsthorn with leading curators, designers and researchers.
